$1.25 million grant awarded for open space

Cape Ann just got a leg up regarding the protection of open space.

On Monday, Gov. Maura Healey announced a $1.25 million grant to protect a parcel of forest land that runs from Manchester-by-the-Sea to Essex and Gloucester.

The award for Cape Ann is part of a $7.5 million grant provided to different projects across the state aimed at enhancing and protecting large swaths of land in Massachusetts.
