State Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante Sworn In for 190th General Court

Representative Ann-Margaret Ferrante (D-Gloucester) was sworn in to the 190th General Court of Massachusetts on Wednesday, January 4th, as the member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the Fifth Essex District, which consists of Gloucester, Essex, and Rockport.

Ferrante took the oath of office, administered by Governor Charlie Baker, along with 156 of her colleagues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. She was joined on the floor of the House chamber for the swearing-in by her mother, Frances Ferrante.

“It’s an honor and privilege to represent Cape Ann on Beacon Hill,” said Ferrante. “I want to thank the voters in Gloucester, Rockport, and Essex for their continued support and confidence in me and for entrusting me with this responsibility once again. I look forward to working with the members of the Cape Ann community to continue our good works together.”

Ferrante’s re-election in November returned her to Boston representing Gloucester, Essex, and Rockport in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. For the past two years, she has served as the House Chair for the Joint Committee on Community Development and Small Businesses. She had previously served as a member of the Ways and Means Committee, the House Vice Chair of the Joint Committee Economic Development and Emerging Technology and the House Vice Chair of the Committee on Environmental Resources and Agriculture. Her priorities remain creating protective services for seniors, creating jobs for Cape Ann residents, and educating Cape Ann’s children.

“I’m looking forward to continuing the work of bringing about positive change for Cape Ann and for Massachusetts as a whole,” Ferrante continued. “As always, I encourage Cape Ann residents to contact my office, should you need our assistance or to let us know your issues or concerns.”
