Cape Ann lawmakers are touting how much Chapter 90 money each community is getting to fix their roads and bridges.
The Chapter 90 road and bridge grants are coming to Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea and Rockport thanks to Gov. Maura Healey recently signing “An Act financing improvements to municipal roads and bridges.” All four communities are pretty much level funded when it comes to getting state grants for road work.
The money is part of the $375 million municipal transportation bond bill enacted by the House and Senate with support of state Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester, and state Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante, D-Gloucester.
“This legislation marks a continued commitment by the commonwealth to the transportation infrastructure in our cities and towns,” Ferrante said in a prepared statement. “In addition to the infrastructure funding that the Legislature makes available each year, this legislation provides additional support to make critical investments in key areas in order to keep our residents and businesses moving.”
