I have heard from many Cape Ann residents about how they would be affected by a shutdown in Commuter Rail service to work on the Beverly and Annisquam River rail bridges as well as install federally-mandated safety equipment known as positive train control (PTC).
On April 26, at 6:30 pm at Gloucester City Hall, there will be a public meeting to discuss the shutdown as well as the MBTA’s work on the Beverly and Annisquam River rails bridges. Representatives from the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority, the T’s Bridge Group, MBTA contractor Keolis, and PTC representatives will be there.
I share the concerns for both the economic impact this will have on Cape Ann’s communities and those of you for whom this shutdown would be a hardship personally. I urge you to attend the public meeting so that you may address your concerns directly to the MBTA.
