State House backs key voting reforms

Voters on Cape Ann and across the state of Massachusetts may not have to wait until 2016’s Election Day to cast their ballots if a bill backed by the Massachusetts House last week becomes reality. On a 141-10 vote, House lawmakers approved legislation authorizing early voting in presidential elections and online registration in Massachusetts — both major changes that supporters claim will broaden voter engagement.
